Jac, a suggestion. Instead of such a big garden jungle adding to the front of your place, creating fire hazard or alternatively seen as a bit of a land grab ? adding to your screening at Goolawah expense and land, (not trying to be offensive here but some might see it thus.) How about a couple of fingers of plantings, one up from your front hedge, and one down from the existing garden opposite, to create a zig zag path only suitable for bikes and walkers, not wide enough to get a car through but mowable with a ride-on.
