  1. Thanks to those members who attended and thanks to Anna for the detailed Minutes. Thanks Wayne and Julica for clarification and answering some of the queries. I was going to answer some but all covered 😉

A great many issues were brought up and discussed at length and I look forward to participating in future discussion and development of the Policies/processes etc.

Sorry I could not make the meeting.
    Cheers,
    Craig

  2. Some thoughts after reading the minutes further. I can see two issues that the members with children want to resolve. The process of Eligibility for Membership and Costs associated with Ratification when buying a share. I do not see any issue mentioned as to Adult children becoming Guest members as this seems to be a process that is accepted by the community. Also, transferring a share to a family member should not be an issue if they become joint members of the same share as no membership fee is required. Was there any mention of adding these step to the policy? The Cost seems to be a stumbling block as the $10,000 joining fee goes towards meeting Goolawah’s budget. However, if all members agree to removing this fee for adult children of members only, then the Levies could be increased to accomodate for the deficit. That is, all members could pay an additional $150 per year per share for each new adult child member. Although this seems inequitable or unfair, it just needs members to agree.

    • thanks Wayne,
so far we have an “Aduld Child of Member Agreement” (see website under membership forms). To become a Guest of a member at the moment adult children have to follow the guest application process (see Membership policy).
Yes, we clairfied at the CM that single members can make their children joint members. Not everyone has the option to do this though, since in many cases there are already 2 joint members on the share.
To wave the joining fee and raise levies is definitely an option worth discussing further.
(PS: we don’t have a membership fee, it’s called joining fee – just mentioning it to avoid confusion)

  3. Thanks, Membership Committee for your work on this. There are a couple of questions that were unanswered in the minutes which I have answered below:

    Additional questions were raised:
Kempsey Council/ DA – states there is a maximum number of people allowed to live on Goolawah.
Answer – 312 people permitted on Goolawah. That is 4 x 78 sites.
Clarification sought – maximum number of shares, rather than people? How many can live on a single site?
Maximum number of sites permitted in Goolawah’s DA is 78. Maximum number of shares is 78. The calculation of maximum number of people (312) above is based on 4 people per site. However there is no restriction to the number of people on a site simply the overall number on Goolawah. The DA states maximum number of bedrooms permitted per site is 3, however, Council may permit more bedrooms if the effluent is disposed of per Environment and Health protection guidelines and also approved by council.

How many can live on the community? 312 people.
