  1. Hi Peter,

Thanks for putting forward the proposal, as Craig has pointed out good points. The idea of incentives for more property maintenance is good and I agree with your idea to increase funds and Craig’s idea to increase the amount for Work Claims. However, I don’t see a small increase having a great effect, perhaps having a ceiling on Work Levy but still increasing the Work claim but a larger amount might be more effective.

Other options are available. I have a proposal where we could ask members to maintain a small perimeter outside of their site as part of their responsibility to keeping their site fire safe. As most members already do this by mowing or pickup up debris around their borderline it should not be too much of an addition to their commitments.

The larger extent of slashing or mowing would still be a community responsibility where incentives might be worthwhile.

  2. Thanks Peter,

Some good points raised and can only hope that it will motivate more members to do some more work on Goolawah.

As noted in the Agenda for Saturday’s meeting, I am raising the issue of property maintenance (slashing, chain sawing etc). This is a slightly different issue to the work levy rate but fits in with the same idea that getting a handful of the same members to do physically demanding work for $10/h (or even $15/h), won’t be easy.

Look forward to discussing it and your proposal then.

    Cheers,

    Craig
