Tractor & Machinery Operation

As discussed at the last monthly meeting, Sec. Ralph and Roger have prepared a first draft agreement (below) designed for completion by all operators of our new Kubota tractor (and other machinery).

Study of the Kubota tractor operators manual and Farmsafe’s Safe Tractor Operation Guide are required homework:

Maria River Road

With the serious deterioration of Maria River Road recently, some of us have been complaining to Hastings Shire Council by phone (6581 8111), to apply customer pressure to hasten their road grading schedule. Each caller is allocated a CRM record.

In return the standard email reply below was received. It outlines Council policy and assessment that the current road condition does not warrant bringing forward their planned April re-grade!

If interested you should ring/email Council or the nominated manager.

Thinking of Selling?

Well, the language of ‘real-estate spruiking’ is hard to avoid. The Co-op presently has ‘expressions of interest’ from several prospective members. So if you’re a non-resident member who no longer plans to live at Goolawah, and you’d like to take this opportunity of selling your share, just drop a line to Secretary Ralph.

Kempsey Council Elections

Local residents go to the polls this Saturday to elect Councillors for four years.

Given our ongoing loggerheads with Council officers over Nevertire Road, it might be useful to determine a pseudo Goolawah How-to-Vote card for our members.

The only selection criteria were for candidates to have some sympathy for the Goolawah cause and/or apparent social and environmental awareness.

The brains trust came up with Alexandra Wyatt, Anna Shields, Bruce Morris, Sue McGinn and Mark Baxter – in no particular order, as we didn’t work out preferences, so over to you.

Alas, it seems our stalwart supporter, Betty Green, is not presenting again.

Of course it’s democracy in action so you can ignore all the above and vote as you damn please!

Bank Australia

As you know the Co-op’s main bank accounts are now with Bank Australia. The NAB account is only retained for those who make payments over a branch bank counter.

Treasurer John reported recently that some online payments are still being sent to NAB, and requested that people change those to Bank Australia:  BSB 313-140  Account 12088171.

Maybe one day we can close the NAB account if we find that it’s not used any longer.
