Working Bee Sat 21 May 2016

The working bee tomorrow will start at 9 am from the Camp Kitchen.

The main task is clearing the overhanging vegetation on Illa Langi Road for the first kilometre out of Goolawah on the left.

Chainsaws and their operators will be welcome.

A wood-chipper has been hired for the weekend, so after the road clearing, it will be available for other places.

Don’t forget to bring your gloves and earmuffs!

Goolawah Landcare – Sat 14 May

Further to Rob’s extensive planting near the Camp Kitchen, we have 50 more plants of rainforest species to put in the new rainforest/bush tucker garden project across the road.

Come along this Saturday at 9 am to the Camp Kitchen, to give a hand and find out more about this and future projects. It should only take a couple of hours to plant and water, using the newly-fitted fire truck.

Morning teas afterwards. Please bring a spade, smiles and ideas all welcome.

The planting is done in the spirit of a gift to the community and not a work claim activity. (Wayne)

DA Committee 06 Apr 2016

After several weeks of research and checking, DEX Consulting (Civil & Structural Engineering) has now been engaged to advise on Nevertire Road construction options.

Following a meeting on-site yesterday with Mike Dutton of DEX and committee members Mairead, Bronwyn, Louise and myself (Peter was away), we can confirm that DEX seems to be a good choice. They have a track record with Kempsey Council, very solid engineering experience and local contacts.

Moreover Dutton’s initial thoughts about the road are not so far removed from the community’s. He is reviewing the situation and will provide a report and cost estimates for design options compatible with our road site characteristics and expected traffic volumes.

For any further details please contact Ralph.
