  1. Thanks Kev for reading and commenting on the SR for the Annual Budget approval in June and sorry that it seems complicated.

You are correct this is simply a special resolution to approve the 23-24 Financial year budgets from which levies are calculated.

Although budget approval has been a yearly proposal since the 20-21 Financial year this is the first time it has been brought forward to June to enable budget approval before issuing the levies for the following financial year, in this case, on 1 July. This process started at the February General Meeting and continued in parallel with the Special resolution in March to approve the funding of Nevertire Road stage 2. The budgets were published in March for the April GM discussion and updated from that meeting with feedback from the community.

Generally this process would have continued through to August where it would have been voted on as another motion at the AGM, so I am assuming the lesser timeframe has made it difficult to obtain all information you need to understand the increases in levies resulting from the budget. There is further opportunity to discuss the Budgets in June at the GM before voting.

  2. Kev, it’s indeed just a proposal to remind of the budget planning and the announce the vote next GM.

I agree, we should work harder on plain english and make sure everyone can understand the content.
If there’s anyone in the Coop who would like to regularly help with this task – like proof read for clarity / make communication as easy as possible – please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

  3. Re: Special resolution. Wayne, this resolution is about as clear as mud with paint on top. Can we please have an explanation as to what this is and means that we can all understand. I was at the directors meeting wed and can guess that it is to do with raising the infrastructure levy to cover the future cost of Nevertire rd but it’s not at all clearly stated herein. A bit of plain spoken English without legalese might help get the message across here.
    Kev.

    • Doh !
Upon re re re reading it for a third time I figured out that it’s just accepting the budgets . I think.
      Kev.
