Profit & Loss and Budget Expenditure 2017-18

At the last community meeting, after the Treasurer’s Report and key budget items were adopted, there was further discussion about the adequacy of the roadworks budget and overall budget for 2018-19. It was agreed that the Treasurer would prepare a Profit & Loss statement for consideration by the directors and further discussion at the next monthly meeting:

Koala Habitat Agreement 3

Dan has received this map from the BCT team of designated koala habit areas on the Co-op: shaded in yellow, orange and two greens. Only these areas will be considered by BCT when calculating possible funding for our agreement. Other areas would be a bonus that do not affect their assessment of any bid we make. koala zones

If anyone wants to have a chat with Dan, he’ll be at the Camp Kitchen tomorrow around 4pm, or contact him on 0411897255. It will also be on the agenda at next Saturday’s General Meeting. We have to decide which activities and dollar values go into our bid, which is NOT binding – if accepted we would then need to sign on the dotted line, or not.

Koala Habitat Agreement 2

Dan has provided the following update, after last week’s meeting at the Co-op with Biodiversity Conservation Trust officers:

“After discussion with Gabriel today, the final day for Goolawah to lodge a ‘Bid’ for funding for having a deed placed on sections of Goolawah will be the 23rd July.

In approx one week we will receive a map of our lands with the areas that are ideal for conservation zoning. This should be in time for our next meeting to make a decision as to what areas (if any) the community would be happy to see turned into a koala habitat conservation zone.

We will also need to decide on a “bid” value. We can stipulate certain values for every year for the first 20 years, then an ongoing value (which will increase by CPI) in perpetuity after that.

As soon as we have the draft mapping, I or Roger will make a call out (phone tree etc) for any interested parties to convene a meeting to discuss plausible ‘works’ to be done.”

Koala Habitat Agreement 1

The May meeting agreed to continue with an application to the NSW Government’s Biodiversity Conservation Trust for a possible funding agreement with the Co-op to maintain koala habitat.

Dan is leading the chase, with help from Roger and Frank, and has prepared a draft map (below) of possible designated habitat areas on the Co-op for our discussion.

The letter from the Trust setting out the processes and requirements for the grant is also below. Dan is looking for quick feedback on the map, so please leave any comments here or contact him directly.
